Provenance

Proof you canpoint to.

You don’t inspect certificates to trust a website — you look for the padlock. SoundMint builds the padlock for music: an inaudible signature in every file you share, and a receipt for every master you press.

A provenance record no one can fake or backdate.

Four quiet things happen to every record you make here. Together they add up to proof.

01 · Who shared the copy

Invisible signature

Every audio file you share from SoundMint carries an inaudible watermark keyed to that exact share link. If a clip surfaces somewhere it shouldn’t, you can trace which share it came from — the signature survives re-encoding and turns up in clips as short as one second, at reduced confidence.

02 · When the work existed

Time-stamped origin

Every upload, every version, every signature is fixed to the second it happened, in a record that can’t be backdated. When the question is “who had this first”, your answer comes with a timestamp.

03 · Who made it, in writing

Signed credits

The split sheet is agreed and signed by every collaborator while the song is made — not argued after it earns. Any change reopens signatures, and every party signs again before anything ships.

85.5¢of every dollar goes straight to the sheet.

95¢ if you hold your whole record. SoundMint’s cut is a flat 5% when a record sells — written into the contract that pays you.

04 · The master, pressed

Tamper-evident receipt

When you press a record, it gets a public receipt that can’t be edited — only added to. The master, the credits, and the moment of release, fixed where anyone can check them. The audio signature lives in the sound. This receipt lives on the record — a different seal entirely.

Every record keeps a Source Record.

The whole history of a track — uploads, signatures, splits, the pressing — written down as it happened. This is Riot’s, the first record pressed on SoundMint.

Nothing in this chapter is a roadmap — each of these works today.

The record keeps failed steps too. A press that didn’t go through stays written down — the real history, not a highlight reel.
