Find answers to common questions about SoundMint.
SoundMint is a platform that enables musicians and artists to create, sell, and collect music NFTs. We provide tools for artists to tokenize their music and connect directly with their fans through blockchain technology.
To create an account, click on the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner of the homepage. You can sign up using your email address or connect with your wallet. Follow the prompts to complete your profile setup.
SoundMint is free to browse and explore. Artists pay a small fee when minting and selling their music NFTs. Collectors pay for the NFTs they purchase plus any applicable transaction fees.
To mint your music as an NFT, you need to create an artist account, upload your audio file, add metadata and artwork, set your pricing and royalty preferences, and then mint your NFT. Our platform guides you through each step of the process.
Artists can earn royalties on secondary sales of their music NFTs. You can set your royalty percentage (typically between 5-15%) when minting your NFT. These royalties are automatically distributed to you whenever your NFT is resold on compatible marketplaces.
SoundMint supports various audio formats including MP3, WAV, FLAC, and AAC. For artwork, we support JPG, PNG, GIF, and SVG formats. We recommend using high-quality files for the best experience.
To purchase a music NFT, you need to connect your wallet, browse the marketplace or artist profiles, select the NFT you want to purchase, and complete the transaction. You'll need to have enough cryptocurrency in your wallet to cover the cost plus transaction fees.
As a collector, you can listen to your music NFTs, display them in your profile, share them on social media, resell them on the marketplace, and in some cases, gain access to exclusive content or experiences from the artist.
The quantity of music NFTs is determined by the artist. Some may be one-of-a-kind (1/1), while others might be available in limited editions or open editions. The scarcity is clearly indicated on each NFT listing.
SoundMint currently supports Ethereum, EVM-compatible chains, and Solana. We're continuously exploring additional blockchain integrations to provide more options for our users.
SoundMint is compatible with MetaMask, WalletConnect, Coinbase Wallet, and Rainbow Wallet. We recommend using the latest version of your preferred wallet for the best experience.
The Workspace files are stored on AWS S3 to ensure secure, fast, and reliable storage. The files are only accessible to the artist and their collaborators.
The music files are stored on IPFS (InterPlanetary File System), a decentralized storage network. This ensures that your music remains accessible and isn't dependent on SoundMint's servers.
