Artists should
own their music.
Not some of it. Not eventually. All of it, forever. That’s why we’re building SoundMint — the infrastructure for music ownership.
The music industry is broken.
Artists create all the value and capture almost none of it.
Labels take 80% and own masters forever. Streaming pays fractions of pennies. Fans have no way to own the music they love. The infrastructure of music rights is stuck in the 1960s: copyright registration requires lawyers, master ownership is opaque, royalty accounting is a black box with six-to-twelve-month delays, and proving you created something first is nearly impossible.
We watched too many talented friends sign away their futures because they had no alternative. There had to be a better way.
“Blockchain can fix music ownership — but only if it’s invisible to the artist.”
A workspace you’ll use daily
Upload, organize, and collaborate on your music. Version control for every file. Track contributions from every collaborator. The tool you actually need — not blockchain forced on you.
Ownership that’s verifiable
When you’re ready, press your master: an immutable, timestamped record of the work — its fingerprint, its authors, their shares — that anyone can check, forever.
Money that settles itself
Splits are signed before the release exists and enforced by the contract that pays them. Sales settle as they happen — no black-box royalty accounting, no six-month delays.
Six years, three discarded prototypes.
SoundMint wasn’t a pivot into music — it was waiting for the technology to deserve the idea.
- 2020
The spark. A conversation about how Netflix watermarks video frames to track piracy. The realization: we could do the same for music, but with blockchain as the source of truth. Domain purchased. Vision clear. But the technology wasn’t ready.
- 2020–23
Three prototypes built and discarded. Blockchain-first failed — artists didn’t understand wallets. NFT collectibles failed — looked like another scam. IPFS streaming failed — too slow. Each failure taught us: artists need tools first, blockchain second.
- 2024
The stars aligned. Privy made wallets invisible. Base made fees negligible. The tools we’d waited five years for finally existed — so we started building.
- 2025
SoundMint Studio launches in closed beta. Real artists, real files, real workflows — the wedge proves itself as a tool people open every day, before a single token is involved.
- 2026
The protocol goes live on Base and the Crate opens. Masters pressed onchain, splits enforced by contract, records collected directly from the people who made them. Not hype — infrastructure.

Eleven years building web applications; nearly twenty making music. SoundMint is built entirely solo — every line of code, every design decision — by someone who feels the problem it solves.
SoundMint is built by Fortissimo Ventures, focused on infrastructure for the creator economy.
